mother-baby

The second floor eleven bed LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, post-partum) unit provides for single room maternity care in a beautiful, comfortable homelike setting, and pleasing environment. Each room features hardwood floors, bay windows, and furniture designed with comfort in mind. The newborn nursery, located in the center of the Women’s Pavilion, has 4 special care beds and 22 well baby beds.

The addition of the Women’s Pavilion six floor features an added ten LDRP rooms and ten bed nursery. It has the same style arched architecture and gleaming hard wood floors with private bathrooms as its counterpart to the Women’s Pavilion second floor. The 6 South floor is also a complete Women’s Unit for post-operative care of gynecological patients. Two of the patient care rooms have been specifically designed to provide barrier free access. When the Women’s Pavilion reaches capacity, moms and babies are moved to the 6 South nursing unit where their nursing care is never interrupted and provided by the same qualified staff as in the Women’s Pavilion.

With the addition of the sixth floor, there are a total of 31 beds for the care of women and infants and 30 nursery beds. The Women’s Pavilion features a Level II neonatology unit for the critical and medical care of the premature infant and newborn. Pediatrix Medical Group of Texas is a group of neonatologists with Victoria-based physician Marisol Ortiz, M. D. and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners Janet Harper-Hilsabeck and David Maddux. With the Citizens Medical Center team of highly skilled nurses and physicians, premature infants are given round-the-clock specialized care.

The newest technology has been utilized to allow precise monitoring of fetal and maternal physiologic changes during labor and delivery. Computerized central monitoring permits the nurses to monitor patients throughout the unit. A state-of-the-art security system, which includes closed circuit television and an alarm system, ensures the safety of neonates on the unit.

The Women's Pavilion at Citizens Medical Center provides a complete array of obstetrical and gynecological services in a beautiful and home-like setting designed to keep the family together during the entire childbirth.
