The CME program is the only program in the area providing these educational opportunities for the area physicians. The TMA has accredited this program by stating that “Citizens Medical Center has demonstrated full compliance, with commendation, in all aspects of the TMA's stringent Essentials, Guidelines and Standards for the Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education Sponsors in Texas.” According to the TMA, Citizens is one of only 35 community hospitals in Texas to have received this designation. Citizens Medical Center is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to sponsor continuing medical education activities and to grant Category 1 PRA/AMA credits to physicians.

Nursing Education

Continuing Nursing Education – Citizens Medical Center is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Texas Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This approval meets Type I criteria for mandatory continuing education requirements toward relicensure as established by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. Approval is granted to agencies who demonstrate the ability to consistently provide quality education programs.
